What Is Standby Mode On Navien Tankless Water Heater?

Standby is a feature on the Navien Tankless Water Heater. This allows your water heater to stand by until you switch the Power to On or Off. When the unit activates this mode, your water heater will not work and the display shows the WAIT code while the unit is powered On or Off.

Note: This is only applicable (Wait code will be displayed) for the models with cascade systems.

Your Navien Tankless Water Heater generally gets into the stand-by mode if you use too much hot water or the unit exceeds the usage demands. Turns out, the tankless water heater will get stuck into the stand-by mode if the water temperature crosses its safety level.

Resetting the water heater will help you deactivate the stand-by mode. In the next chapter, I will describe how to reset a Navien tankless hot water heater.

How Do I Reset My Navien Tankless Water Heater?

It’s a piece of cake to reset the Navien tankless water heater compared to other tankless hot water heaters in the market.

Just press the Back button on the front panel of your Navien Tankless Water Heater and it will reset your water heater.

There are also other two resetting methods you can try to reset the tankless unit successfully.

First, if you have a GFI on the outside which you use to plug-in the power cord of the tankless unit, just disconnect the cord from the power. It will automatically reset the unit.

Second, if you have a direct connection, just go to the breaker box and flip the breaker for the water heater to the off position. Then, wait 30 seconds and restore the power supply by turning the breaker to the on position. It will also reset your tankless water heater properly.
