Comfort Zone Space Heater Not Working [9 Easy Solutions]

Here are the 9 common reasons & their solutions to Comfort Zone Space Heater Not Working:

1. You May Not Plug The Power Cord Into the Outlet

We often forget to plug the power like we seek for a pen when it’s in our hand! If you don’t plug the power cord, no power will pass through it to the heater. As a result, the heater won’t heat the room anymore.

How To Fix:

Plug the power cord of your heater into a 120V electric outlet. Make sure the power cord fits into the outlet tightly. Now, turn on your heater and it will now work and warm your room like a charm.

2. No Power To The Outlet

No power to the outlet means either the outlet is defective or the circuit breaker for the space heater is in the Off position.

How To Fix:

You can easily determine if the outlet is at fault. Just plug another appliance into the outlet you used to operate your space heater. If the appliance doesn’t come on, understand the outlet is bad.

In this case, use another outlet to power on your space heater or hire a certified electrician to replace the outlet.

On the other hand, if your space heater is on a fuse, verify the fuse is in good condition. If it gets blown out, replace the fuse with a new one.

Of course, don’t hesitate to call an electrician if the problem still persists after trying all the troubleshooting steps I mentioned.

3. Heater May Get Tipped Over

Like other brands, Comfort Zone includes a tip-over safety feature on its every space heater. If the unit gets tipped over or you position the heater leanly, an internal switch shut the heater off automatically.

How To Fix:

Restore the heater upright position, which will reset the unit. To continue operation, turn on your heater using the remote control or the control panel on the unit.

4. Unit Gets Overheated

Every space heater has a built-in overheat safety feature. And this space heater from Comfort Zone is not an exception to that.

When the heater’s internal components reach a certain temperature that could cause overheat & possible fire, the heater will go into the shut-off mode automatically.

How To Fix:

To reset your space heater, unplug the unit from the electric outlet. Then, leave the heater for 10 minutes to let it cool down. Finally, restore the power to the unit and turn the unit on.

Pro Tips: I suggest you find the source that causes your space heater to get overheated. Generally, dirty air filter is the main culprit behind this issue. I will describe it in this section ‘Dirty Air Filter’.

5. Battery In The Remote Control Is Bad

The heater won’t work if the battery in the remote control is bad. It’s only for those who operate their heater using the remote control.

How To Fix:

Before replacing the battery, verify you pull out the clear insulating film to activate the battery. The following picture will help you in this case:

If removing the clear insulating film doesn’t bring any luck, replace the battery.

6. Thermostat Is Set Higher Than Ambient Room Temperature

The unit may not operate if you set the thermostat higher than ambient room temperature.

How To Fix:

Adjust the thermostat setting and it will help you operate the unit like a champ. To begin operation, use the buttons on the control panel or adjust the thermostat setting on the remote control.

7. Faulty Tilt Switch

For those who have Comfort Zone Ceramic Space Heater may relate this issue. Due to a defective tilt switch, the unit won’t turn on altogether.

To resolve this issue, what you need to do is- just adjust the tilt switch or replace it with a new one.

Fortunately, the following tutorial will show what exactly you should do when the tilt switch is at fault.

8. Thermal Cut-off Is Bad

Thermal cut-off switch

Some space heaters, especially Comfort Zone Infrared Heater have a thermal cut-off. If it’s bad, the unit won’t work anymore.

You can easily determine if this component is at fault. When you turn on your heater, it will run for a little bit. Then, shut off the unit completely as if the thermal cut-off has started to do its job.

How To Fix:

First off, check the thermal cut-off for continuity. Just get a multimeter and inspect it. If there is no continuity, replace the thermal cut-off switch. Regarding this, you can watch the following tutorial to learn the replacement process:

9. Dirty Air Filter

A dirty air filter prevents the airflow from going into the space heater. The restricted airflow is responsible for overheating, which activates the overheat safety feature. As a result, the unit goes into the shut-off mode immediately.

How To Fix:

Cleaning the air filter is the only way to bring your space heater back into working condition.

To clean the air filter, first locate where the component is in the heater. The following diagram will show you the location of the air filter:

Then, pull the handle down and outwards to remove the Air Intake Grille. Now, wash the air filter with water. Next, dry the filter before reassembling it back into your space heater.

End-Note

Comfort Zone Space Heater is reliable for its superior capability to keep the small space warm. It’s equipped with safety features like the tip-over switch and overheat safety features.

Unfortunately, the heater won’t work if the unit is tipped over or you position it leanly. Similarly, this heater will go into the shut-off mode automatically if the internal components of this unit get overheated.

Luckily, you can easily bring the unit back into working condition by setting it on firm space where there is no risk for the unit to get tipped over. If the unit gets overheated, just unplug it and leave it for 10 minutes.

Turns out, keep the air filter clean or clean it every 3 months.  Taking your eyes on all of these will help you keep the unit functional.
